We're (clicking on) #1! The URL makes the man, or at least shows you what he's all about. I'm constantly amazed at the sheer number of sites out there, especially when 99% of them offer absolutely nothing of use. These sites, while not necessarily useful, are ones I find myself returning to regularly.

www.gamasutra.com - The best game industry site on the web, Gamasutra provides a steady stream of industry news, as well as thoughtful essays on game theory, game design, and the interplay between video games and the larger culture. While the huge amount of "Inside Baseball" industry news on offer can be daunting to outsiders, the opinion pieces make it clear that video games are growing up, and they're far from mindless distractions.

www.huffingtonpost.com - I guess this one makes my political leanings pretty clear, eh? Regardless of your views, however, HuffPo provides well-written, well-considered news and commentary. It just tends to lean in a particular direction, that's all.

www.homestarrunner.com - Homestar Runner is very high on my list of greatest things ever. Created by my former EarthLink colleague Matt Chapman and his brother Mike, this cartoon went a long way toward convincing me that Flash isn't useless. Original, hilarious, and full of more pop-culture vittles than you can shake a Goblin Gremlin at, it's fun for the whole family.

www.wigu.com - The daily adventures of young Wigu Tinkle and his family significantly improve my process of waking up in the morning. With characters like Topato the potato made of poison and his sidekick Sheriff Pony, it's right up my absurdist alley.

www.catandgirl.com - Another web comic, Cat and Girl combines strong, clean graphic design with healthy doses of philosophy, world-weary cynicism, and occasional flashes of optimism. Oh, and humor. Lots and lots of humor. Thrill to the adventures of Bad Decision Dinosaur!
